Public Announcement on R.A. 9003: The Ecological Solid Waste Management Act Dear Community Members, We wish to bring your attention to Republic Act No. 9003, otherwise known as the “Ecological Solid Waste Management Act.” This law underscores the importance of responsible waste management to protect our environment and promote sustainable living. Source Reduction: Encourages minimizing waste at the source through conscious consumption and reduction of unnecessary packaging. Segregation at Source: Mandates the segregation of waste into categories like biodegradable, non-biodegradable, recyclable, and special waste at the point of origin. Establishment of Materials Recovery Facilities (MRFs): Calls for the establishment of MRFs in every barangay or locality to facilitate the recovery, recycling, and composting of waste materials.
